The historic paintings in Cacaxtla, Tlaxcala inspire Angel CerĂ³n to depict an eagle warrior in ceramic. Believed to channel the courage and might of the eagle, the warrior was highly revered by the Tlaxcalteca people of 600-950 A.D. The sculpture portrays the warrior wearing the eagle's talons on his feet, as well as a headdress that represents the powerful bird.
