Ismael Díaz transfers his original sense of art as he paints with acrylics on a ceramic metate or metatl, as the Aztec people refer to it. It was designed for grinding maze, seeds, and grains by rolling the stone up and down the slightly convex and rugged surface. The metate is still used in many Mexican households.
