Scantily-dressed against the heat, a woman strains with her heavy burden – her beloved child and a jar of precious water that spills from her tremendous efforts. George Asante pays tribute to the strength and courage of African women with this sese wood carving. Crafted with traditional hand-made tools and techniques, the figurine is finished with red, dark tan, and black waxes. Asante names it Yoo Keh Kukueh Tsuru, meaning Woman with the Red Pot.
