According to Hindu belief, Ganesha is the son of Siwa and Durga, two powerful deities. Though human in form, he possesses the head of an elephant and is regarded as the Lord of Knowledge. He sits in a leafy forest in this sculpture by Putra Suteja. Keeping alive the artisan heritage of her late husband, Putra Suteja, Eka removes the husk from a coconut shell and polishes the piece to a sheen before carving the images. Beautiful and original, it stands on an albesia wood base. Please note size and coloring may differ as the artist works with natural coconut shell.
