By Salvador Petzey, this unique box depicts an ancient Maya glyph in mahogany. The Aj glyph represents new generations, according to the Maya. Two loops at the top depict tender plant shoots, and the vertical lines symbolize sugar cane and trees. The horizontal lines in the center represent the multiplication of furrows as well as the horizon. Its animal nahual connecting humans with deities is the armadillo. The pale cypress wood glyph opens to reveal a hidden drawer, and the sculpture stands on a base of granadillo wood.
