Liz Rios transforms the beautiful textiles of Guatemala into a wristlet of original elegance with a decorative barrilete (kite) on the front. Gigantic kites soar through the Guatemalan skies on Day of the Dead as a tradition that began with the belief that the noise of the wind flapping against the paper will keep the dead away. For this bag Rios selects blue and white for the jaspe patterns. The cotton panel is woven on a back strap loom, and it contrasts with the brown leather half and handle. The bag is designed to fold to shape the wristlet. The lined cotton interior features an open pocket. Pink and green pompoms as well as aged brass studs complete the design. The bag closes with a magnetic button, as well as when it folds.
