This tote from Aparajita Trust celebrates the textile legacy of Kutch in western India, where girls are taught early on to embroider, and eventually work on the items to be included as their dowry. This black tote is sewn of mashru, a hand-loomed fabric woven of cotton and rayon for a satin appearance. The front panel features ahir hand-embroidery in mustard yellow, rust red, green and beige, detailed with mirrors or aablas. The black lined interior features a discreet pocket.
