This long and narrow mask is an original design by Robert Nortey and features ornate patterns embossed in aluminum. The mask is called Agbeli, which to the Ewe people may mean Life Exists, and also refers to the cassava nut, a staple of the diet in many a West African community. Robert Nortey carves the sese wood mask by hand and embellishes with painted details in light and dark brown, and blue.
