The artisan crafts the mask out of sese wood and brass, painting it black with red, yellow, blue, and green accents. Multi-colored recycled glass beads on the mask's cheeks add texture to the creative design. The artisan calls the mask Efua, which is an Akan name for a girl born on a Friday.
