This handsome pule wood mask personifies a Javanese lord or Gusti. Handaru Baskoro carves the mask by hand and uses traditional batik techniques to decorate it. He uses the legendary kawung florid motif, one of the oldest batik motifs once reserved for the royal family. It represents a cross-section of the aren-palm fruit, yet some say the cross between the four ovals refers to the universal energy source.
