In bright yellow and red, the Amega mask is an original design by Ghanaian artisan Robert Nortey. Meaning Big Man in the dialect of Ghana's Ewe people, the sese wood mask is carved by hand. Nortey details a cap in red, black and yellow, as well as a long forehead and half-opened eyes. As he paints the mask Nortey works to achieve a weathered illusion.
