An imposing figure with a narrow face gazes at the world through narrowed eyes. An X covers the mouth. Carved by hand, this African mask is the work of Daniel Asante. Sometimes we need to let it go, hence the 'X' design on the lips of the mask means 'silence is golden,' the Ghanaian artisan explains. He names his design Nsem pii, which means there is more to it in the Twi language.
