A rounded shape dramatically projects the visage of an gallant character on this sese wood mask by master woodworker Daniel Nyadedzor. Named Nkunim II, meaning to succeed; this mask provides an atmosphere of success wherever it is placed. Captivating traditional African patterns are embossed onto the metal plates gracing the nose and eye area, adding an haunting accent. Sese, a wood common to West Africa, is patiently hand-carved and sanded to achieve the desired form. The piece is then carefully painted with black and red emulsion and coated with potassium. After a careful polishing, an additional tint is applied to the piece, adding an antique look.
