This mask is inspired by our forefathers and elders, who are highly respected in our culture for their wisdom and the advice they give to younger generations, explains Kennedy K. Aseidu. He carves the sese wood mask by hand and decorates it with embossed aluminum plates on the cheeks and chin. Painted dark and light brown, a brave lion adorns the original mask, which Aseidu calls Adwen pa, meaning Wisdom in the Twi language of the Akan people.
