A bird overlooks this expressive mask designed by Gordon Adu, which he names Fatse. Meaning Forgiveness in the Twi dialect of the Akan people, the star shaped visage is hand-carved upon a round sese wood mask. The opened mouth reveals a red tongue and half-closed eyes give the mask a sleepy quality. Adu further adorns the black mask with embossed aluminum plates and gives it an aged finish with white clay.
