Like a pillar of sound, this bougarabou drum is designed to entertain with West African rhythms. Bougarabou is onomatopoeia for the sound produced by the instrument. Samuel Coleman hand-carves the tweneboa wood drum and uses dried goatskin for the drumhead. Iron rings wrapped in cotton affix it to the body. A network of cotton twine further stretches the striking surface.
