A golden pear stands under the soft glow of a spotlight while a single drop of water runs down its side in a composition by Azorin. Experimenting with textures and colors, Azorin conjures the elegance of the classic chiaroscuro with bronze leaf and oil paints. Azorin has developed a demanding procedure to create the visual effects that characterizes his artwork. He paints the composition after delineating the images with carbon pencil, and to finish he applies lacquer and bronze leaf accents that create a smooth, high relief illusion.
