Painting with acrylics, Thai artist Poovadol presents his interpretation of Pang Naga Prok (Protection). He portrays Buddha on a lotus throne protected from the rain by Mucalinda, the snake or naga who looked after him during the seven days the rain lasted. Mucalinda transformed into a man when the rain stopped, and was granted an audience with Buddha, an event regarded as the first layperson to meet with Buddha. According to tradition, the day in which Buddha's great anecdotes occurred are important, and this particular event happened on a Saturday. Thus, a person born on a Saturday may keep the Pang Naga Prok image at home or at the office.
