There are several doors like this one around Arequipa, and they are framed by bricks made from petrified lava from the volcanoes surrounding the city, says Alcides Medina as he explains why this door inspired him. The door seems like it has let time pass through it. It was once the door to a storage room, where farmers would deposit harvested goods brought into town on llamas or donkeys.
