The Hindu belief in reincarnation presupposes that deities are born with divine attributes, which may appear as symbols or birthmarks in any part of their bodies. Dr. Sneh Gangal interprets these teachings through her art as she imagines the birthmarks on their feet. On the left is Lord Shiva's foot, which she adorns with the crescent moon, the snake and other symbols that are traditionally linked to him. The foot on the right is that of the Goddess Shakti, and features a trident, a flower, and other symbols of purity and holiness. Watercolor on ivory paper featuring card paper matting.
