Don Quixote stands as a universal icon of romance and madness, inspiring a fascinating sculpture by Miguel Mejía. I am proud of this piece, because it is my own interpretation of the character created by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, 'The Ingenious Hidalgo Don Quixote de la Mancha,' confides the Peruvian artist. He welds long bolts onto a motorbike sprocket to steady Don Quixote, while smaller bolts and half nuts make the arms and hands. A nail becomes his lance and a small sprocket his shield. Nails become his expressive eyebrows and handsome mustache. Titled El caballero de la triste figura in Spanish.
