Winfred Korley finds inspiration in the customs and beliefs of Ghana's Fante people for the design of this antiqued fertility doll. Expertly carved by hand from sese wood, the sculpture features white beaded earrings and necklace. The fetish priest gives thanks to the gods for answering parents' request for a child and the white beads on the doll resemble the beads put on a newborn for protection against evil, explains the master carver.
