This table runner is designed after our blue skies and warm earth, explain Community Association of Tzutujil Women Artisans. They weave the table runner on a pedal loom with cotton yarn they have previously dyed with sacatinta leaves to create the blue dye, which they need to cut on any given night except when there is a full moon. Those leaves will result in a grey hue. And they use coffee beans to obtain the rich brown hue that colors this table runner. The artisans finish the fringe by hand.
