Talented musicians play a hearty welcome in a unique set of ornaments by Francis Agbete. They play the accordion, bongo, a gourd maraca, keyboard, flute, and drum. Each figurine is carved by hand with endearing detail. I work with kapok, which is a soft wood, so I have to use a very sharp knife to just scrape away at the wood. The different colors come from different parts of the wood, explains the Ghanaian artisan. The ornaments hang from jute strings.
