In this relief panel by Tay Nontawat, a mighty elephant crosses the jungle pulling a large log. It is a scene from long ago, when Thailand's wood industry was bountiful. Nontawat carves the panel from teakwood; his carving excellence is evident in the superb detailing, which he achieves with a fine chisel and knife. After leaving the wood to dry, he finally applies color with lacquer paints.
